The Members First Credit Union was offering grants for teachers who show financial literacy in their classroom. Mrs. Jones’ second grade classroom shows that every day. Second graders review a lot of money in the math curriculum. They have to identify coins and be able to count coins up to a dollar. Mrs. Jones has created a classroom store that has multiple benefits. Students earn money by doing their jobs. They complete their homework, return their folders, and other ways as well. They can save their money, they can exchange their money for bigger coins, or they get to use it in the classroom store. This store has helped students be efficient at counting coins, but also allows them to have a power of choice to be able to save or purchase items that they enjoy. Mrs. Jones was selected as a winner of the grant and will be receiving $500 which will be used to purchase items and to continue running the successful classroom store!

Our Fresh Fruit & Vegetable program will start on Monday, November 3! We received a grant to provide a snack twice a week for all K-5 students! Here are the particulars:
*Snack will be two times a week unless it's a short week.
*The program ends September 30, 2026.

The next step in this process will be a retreat facilitated by MASB, held in two four-hour sessions on November 3rd and 10th, from 3:30–7:30 PM in the Marion Elementary Library. CTC will be closed Monday, November 3rd for professional development. CTC students must report to the high school by 11:10.
