Marion High School students are showcasing outstanding financial literacy and strategic investment skills in The Stock Market Game, managing a combined portfolio valued at $5,425,332.09 across 54 participating student teams.
Marion High School is currently dominating regional rankings, claiming four of the top 10 spots, including the #1 team overall with a total equity of $103,507.99 (+3.30% growth, outperforming the S&P 500 index). Overall, our student teams are delivering strong performance and disciplined capital management across the board.
Highlights:
Total Capital Managed: $5,425,332.09 in total portfolio equity.
Average Portfolio Value: $100,469.11 per team, representing a net gain across the entire school cohort.
Leaderboard Dominance: MHS holds 4 of the Top 10 ranks (#1, #4, #6, #10) and 26 of the Top 50 spots regionally.
High Success Rate: 50 out of 54 student teams (92.6%) are currently profitable, maintaining equity above their initial $100,000 starting cash.
Effective Risk Control: Exceptional capital preservation across all teams, with the lowest-performing account down less than 0.2% ($99,825.61).
Through this hands-on simulation, students gain real-world experience in equity analysis, tracking market trends, portfolio diversification, and long-term risk management.

Regular Board of Education Meeting

This season is already off to a great start! Isiah and Bella decreased their first meet of the season times by about 90 seconds and 8 minutes respectively! Our two freshmen runners, Brenden and Bridgett both pushed through the additional distance between their 5k today and the 2mi they ran last year. We are incredibly grateful to Morgan’s Composting near Evart for their generosity and partnership in helping us create a more beautiful landscape at Marion Elementary!
Morgan’s Composting graciously worked with our elementary custodian, Jeremy, to develop a plan to refresh and improve our landscaping. They generously donated perennials, fertilizer, and seed to help bring new life to our school grounds. Even better, they will return this spring to complete another refresh and continue helping us make our school grounds something our students, families, and community can be proud of.
We are truly honored by their generosity and willingness to invest in our school. Partnerships like this remind us how fortunate we are to have businesses and community members who believe in our students and want to make a difference.
