READING IS FUNDAMENTAL ANNOUNCES WINNERS OF “RALLY TO READ 100” SWEEPSTAKES

Mrs. Fisher of Marion Elementary School has been awarded 100 new books for their school library and classrooms!

Washington, DC –March 2022 – As we celebrate National Reading Month this March, Reading Is Fundamental (RIF) is proud to announce that Autumn Storm has been selected as a winner of its “Rally to Read 100” sweepstakes, a six-month initiative designed to reignite a love of reading for students in grades K-5  across the country. As one of 100 national awardees, Mrs. Fisher will receive 100 books curated to inspire its young readers.

The sweepstakes giveaway is a part of Reading is Fundamental’s “Rally to Read 100” campaign, which launched in September 2021 as a way to mark the beginning of the new school year and re-engage students in the opportunities that come with reading. Students, educators, families, and RIF partners were invited to take on the fun challenge of reading 100 books over the span of six months by Read Across America Day in March. The “Rally to Read 100” campaign provided accompanying resources such as monthly themes and book lists, virtual read-alouds with notable authors and illustrators, and activity packets.

“An important part of designing this campaign was to encourage students to read, but also to ensure that schools and families have free access to diverse reading resources on a variety of topics that relate to the world around them. We are so excited to contribute 10,000 books in total prizes to help build diverse bookshelves for the winning schools’ libraries and classrooms,” said Reading Is Fundamental President and CEO Alicia Levi.

The “Rally to Read 100” sweepstakes welcomed K-5 educators to submit their schools for the chance to win 100 new books to help build their libraries and classrooms with a range of stories, characters, and authors. After a process of random selection from a pool of thousands, 100 applicants were chosen including Betsy Fisher of Marion Elementary.

“I am so grateful for this opportunity to help continue to foster the love for reading in our Marion Eagles! Thank you to Reading Is Fundamental for making this possible!”
