It was a banner day for the Marion XC teams competing at the Apples 2 Apples Invite @ Uncle John's Cider Mill in St. John's. Well... maybe a wet and slightly muddy banner but our athletes really showed up to race tonight in spite of the conditions. This was probably the largest race we've been in all season and the competition really helped bring out the best in our kids. Many finished with personal record or season record times! Leading the way for our varsity squads, both finishing with personal record marks, was Selena Quintero for the ladies and Eric Williams for the men. Receiving special mention with season record times includes Jordan Wood, Trey Davis, Karma Levine, and Lizzy Fouch.
For the Junior High it was a clean sweep... ALL our athletes earned personal record times for the 2 Mile distance. Many of these runners beat their previous best times by minutes. Overall it was nice to see the kids really respond to the challenge of a large meet with some grit and determination. I hope their successes tonight continue to motivate them to work hard and see even more success. Then again... maybe it was just the cider and donuts that were the motivation? :)
