Recognition Rally

The year is swiftly passing at MHS. We are now about halfway through our 2nd quarter! When 1st quarter finished, the staff and SEL team of MHS took some time during hOUR 10 to have a Recognition Rally. MPACT gave some props (ok sunglasses because their future is bright) to the students who earned a spot on the honor roll, appreciation was shown for our high school esports team and our marching band, and an award called Heart of the Eagle was given to students who had shown use of 5 competencies of Social Emotional Learning. These students (who were back in the bleachers before we could get their picture) were recognized for Heart of the Eagle were:

  • Aaliyah N. - responsible decision making

  • Chanel P. - relationship skills

  • Chase M. - social awareness

  • Zander C. - relationship skills

  • Bryson H. - self-management

  • Isabelle G.Y. - social awareness

The Rally also included an obstacle course for 3 teams of a teacher and 3 students. Responsible decision making impacts our lives every day; what we choose to do leads to results. The "choices" teachers made working with their team did make a difference in the outcome of the competition.

For the 2nd quarter, MHS has an Eagle Engagement Olympics running, which connects to decision making each day in class. For the grade level to be successful and win, here was the advice:

  1. Do your part; put solid effort into class and classwork, turn in assignments on time.

  2. Assist your peers, help create a good work environment in classrooms, minimize distractions.

  3. Motivate others; provide pep talk, words to encourage, assist others without stealing learning opportunities.

  4. Keep going; even if things look bleak. Failure isn’t final. GRIT can get you farther.

As we finish this quarter and semester, results will be given one high school grade and one middle school grade will be granted an afternoon of enjoyment.
