Osceola County Farm Bureau Scholarship will offer no less than $250 to a graduating senior who's parents are a member of Osceola County Farm Bureau and plans on attending a post-secondary educational institution. A student's grades and need will be taken into consideration. Monies will be awarded after the student has completed his/her first semester of 2012-2013 school year at a post-secondary educational institution and has maintained at least a 2.0 on a 4.0 scale. Please see Mrs. Holmes or Mrs. Prielipp for an application. Deadline to apply is April 8, 2012.

 

Want Help to Pay for College? Students can go to www.NextStepU.com/WinFreeTuition and register. They give away up to $10,000 twice a year for college.

 

Korean War Veterans Association Scholarship-$500 is available to apply for until April 15, 2012. Applicants should have maintained acceptable grades, shown respect for those involved in school, adults and peers alike, This award is given out for the 2nd semester during your freshmen year at college. A short essay, transcript, and three letters of reference from the following: an adult (non-family member), a teacher, and one from an American Veteran (also, not a family member). Please see Mrs. Holmes or Mrs. Prielipp for an application.



Zonta Club of Cadillac-$500 offered to female students who demonstrate leadership skills and commitment to public service. Applicants must be ages 16-19 living or studying in a Zonta district/region at the time of application and have an active commitment to volunteerism, experience in local or student government, volunteer leadership achievements, knowledge of Zonta International and it's programs, and an advocate of Zonta International missions of advancing the status of women worldwide. Applicants have an opportunity to be eligible at district level to for another $1,000 award. March 16th is the deadline to apply. Please see Mrs. Holmes or Mrs. Prielipp for an application.

MRA-Michigan Retailers Association-$1,000 scholarship is available to seniors attending college in the fall of 2012. To be eligible, the student or his/her parent must be employed at a business that is a member of MRA. You can also apply online at www.retailers.com. The deadline to apply is April 2, 2012. Please see Mrs. Holmes for details if interested.

The Detroit News, in cooperation with the Michigan Dept. of Education and professional educational organizations is searching for the best high school seniors in the state. The Detroit News and Sparky Anderson's Charity for Children teamed up to enhance the program adding $1,000 scholarship money for the winning students and contributions to charity. There are several scholarships available in the following areas: Athletics, Health Education, Journalism, L.A., Math, Science, Arts, Voc-Tech, World Studies, and special distinction:against all odds. Lucas Hammar Memorial Scholarship- is offered to a graduating senior of Marion High School in honor of Lucas Hammar.  It is for $1,000.  Requirements include an application, financial need and a student who is attending college in the fall. All Marion Seniors are encouraged to apply.  See Mrs. Holmes for Mrs. Prielipp for an application.  Deadline to apply is March 2nd.

 

Lake George Boosters Club--is available to Marion High School graduating seniors. It is worth $500.00. A short essay is required and financial need. Deadline is April 1st. See Mrs. Holmes or Mrs. Prielipp for an application.

Rosa Parks Scholarship Foundation is offering $2,000 non-renewable scholarship to graduating seniors. Applicants must have a min. GPA of 2.5 or higher, financial need, application and essay completed, documented community activities dedicated to the community rights principles, confirm admission to a college or university, transcripts and ACT results and three letters of recommendation. Please see Mrs. Holmes if interested. Deadline to apply is March 1, 2012.

Ferris State University has the State of Michigan Tuition Incentive Program (TIP) which provides full tuition funding for a number of two-year (associate degree) programs for students who are TIP eligible. To qualify students must have had medicaid coverage for 24 months within a 36-consecutive month as identified by Michigan Dept. of Human Services. An acceptance form must be completed and returned before graduations. For more info, see Mrs. Holmes or go to www.ferris.edu/htmls/colleges/university/TIPS/index.htm.

 

Cadillac Women's Club--Dolly Sprague Allied Health Field Scholarships is taking applications for students entering into health related field. Requirements include three references, transcript and ACT/MEAP scores. Please see Mrs. Holmes for more details.

  • Federal Aid:   A special focus on this major source of aid details topics including FAFSA, grants, loans, work-study, military programs, taxes, and changes during 2011.

Michigan Oil & Gas Producers Education Foundation: Qualified applicants must have been accepted for enrollment at a Michigan university or community college, have a min. GPA of 3.0 and demonstrate financial need. Applicants also must be pursuing a degree in a field of study which will allow them full time employment in the crude oil and natural gas industry. It will be a min. of $500 paid directly to the school. Also available to apply online at www.mogpef.org . Deadline is April 2, 2012.

 

The American Legion, Dept. of Michigan scholarships are available to descendants of currently serving military or war time service veterans only. The Range is from $250-$20,000. One is the Guy Wilson Scholarship which requires the student to be planning on attending any Michigan accredited college or university and have a GPA of 2.5 or higher, financial need, parent's or grandparent's honorable active war-time military service, goals and intentions included. The 2nd is the William D. Jewell Brewer Scholarship which has the same requirements and both are $500. Deadline is January 16th. 2012. See Mrs. Holmes for details.

 

William G. Coyne Scholarship program through Credit Union One: Applicant must have complete 30 or more hours of documented, qualified community services during junior/senior year of high school ending April 1, 2012. Be a 2012 graduating high school senior, be a member of a family that has belonged to the credit union One for a min. of 6 months. Have a cum. GPA of 3.0 or above and plan to enroll in the fall of 2012 full time course of study at a two or four-year college or university, or accredited trade or vocational school. See Mrs. Holmes for details. April 1, 2012 is the deadline.



MEA-Michigan Education Association Scholarship: Eligibility requirements include a graduate from a Michigan public school, attend a Michigan public community college or four-year university, or vocational training institution that grants degree, cert. or licenses. Personal Resume written by the applicant, two letters of recommendations, must be a child of a MEA member, MESSA, and MEA-FS staff person. Deadline is Friday, Feb. 10, 2012.
